Why is Kim Jong-un conducting the show of his military instruction so frequently lately? The answer came from a KPA (Korean People’s Army) officer.

A KPA officer by the name of Choe stationed at the China-DPRK border talked with Freedom Chosun on August 30.

Officer Choe asserted that KPA General Politburo is engaged in a great campaign to prevent the spreading of “War-weariness” arising from fear of nuclear war. The recent “map show” (as depicted above) conducted by Kim Jong-Un was a part of the campaign.

DPRK instructs the public that “War-weariness” is an anti-war ideology based on bourgeois pacifism. It is revisionist ideology that causes surrendering to the imperialists.

According to Officer Choe, fear of nuclear war inside KPA was not as serious as the present even when DPRK declared itself as a nuclear state some time ago. The general KPA population had anticipated—per the government’s propaganda—that the US imperialists would downgrade its aggressive posture when DPRK secured the nuclear weaponry and a delivery system capable of reaching the US mainland.

However, the US, the most powerful nuclear nation, countered by dispatching its nuclear submarine to South Korea. And the news of the US establishing a common front with Japan and South Korea and practicing for nuclear war has exacerbated the fear of nuclear confrontation.

There is an increase of conversation about international events among the ranks of KPA personnel, as they listen to news broadcasts illegally in nearby villages. It is an indication of their psychological anxiety due to the deterioration of the situation.

Recently, the KPA Politburo has published a lot of material on political ideology to build confidence in the final victory, dispensing criticisms against “War-weariness” and how it creates evasiveness, superficiality, and short-cutting.

Asked about Kim Jong-un’s inspection of the Naval Command Center and the “map show,” Officer Choe commented that his activities were intended to boost internal morale among the personnel, rather than showing his intent externally. “He is pointing to maps talking about attacking the US and strategies for occupying South Korea, etc., etc., it’s laughable. Everyone knows it’s impossible. Did the US even budge at all? He’s not talking to the enemy state. Still, he is the commander-in-chief, so he has to appear strong for our troops no matter what. That’s what I think.”
