On the 3rd of this month, North Korean defector groups plan to send plastic bottles filled with rice and ramen to the West Sea in response to North Korea's aggressive balloon attacks containing waste.

The event was designed to strongly respond to the North Korean regime's inhumane actions, provide humanitarian aid to the North Korean people, and send a warning message regarding North Korea's provocations.

In July, North Korea suffered from hunger and starvation among its people due to severe flooding. Rice prices soared from W5,400 to W6,000, then to W8,500 and W9,000, and corn prices soared from W2,000 to W4,000.

As a result, many families have abandoned their homes and moved to stay with relatives in the southern part of the country, while reports of children wandering on the streets have become frequent.

Despite this crisis, North Korean authorities continue to focus their resources on nuclear and missile development while continuing to send offensive balloons to South Korea.

North Korean defector groups said the event was planned to raise awareness about inhumane crimes committed by the North Korean regime.

The event features several North Korean defector rights groups, including Free North Korea Radio(자유북한방송), Committee for the Democratization of North Korea (북한민주화위원회), Gyeoleeol-tong-ilyeondae (겨레얼통일연대), Keunsaem(큰샘).

The bottles will also include a USB drive with K-pop dramas and content showing the lives of North Korean defectors in South Korea.

Organizers of the event hope that this event will not only provide practical support to North Koreans but also draw international attention to the regime's provocative actions.
