As Sino-DPRK trading increases due to the relaxation of Covid restrictions, North Korean trading companies are expanding the import volume of sanctioned goods in a big way.
A DPRK trading company imported 200 pieces of agricultural equipment between February and March this year through RaSon (RaJin-SonBong) customs, and currently, it is preparing to clear 60 generators with 20 H.P. engines.
According to the source, sanctioned goods such as agricultural equipment and fertilizers can be purchased inside China online without any restriction. The Customs clearing process is handled through Chinese customs without any interference from the UN inspection authorities.
Kim Jong-un issued a directive concerning the “New Era of agricultural revolution” as the top priority at the Rodong Party Eighth Central Committee convention held on February 26. The directive consisted of importing machinery and equipment that are sanctioned by the US.
According to the sources, there are no smuggling operations over land routes at this point, but the ocean routes have been open a long time ago. All the trading companies are following Kim Jong-un’s directive as a show of loyalty and competing to import sanctioned goods en masse.
